I'm experiencing a loud and persistent ringing or buzzing in my ears since my doc upped my dose of prozac to 60 mg. Could this be caused by the prozac dosage, or is there anything else I could take that does not have this side effect? HELP!
The upping your meds up to 60 mg could very well be the problem, til your body adjusts to that dosage, give it a week n if your stil havn problems with buzzing n ringn in ur ears, call ur doc. They may need to put u on somethn else. I hear lexapro is great, and i take celexa n the only side effect i get, is i go to sleep 2 hrs after i take it, so i take it at night. Good luck!
Hi Gracie Anne, I know it's been a while since you posted your question and I don't know if you've found an answer yet, but I just had a thought (yeah, it happens sometimes)... Do you take the Prozac at night? If so, have you noticed that it's making you grind or clench your teeth while you're sleeping (your jaw would probably feel stiff and sore in the morning and your teeth could be wearing down)? This could also cause the buzzing - but I'm in no way saying this is your situation, just thought it was something you could try to observe.
Notice that it lists tinnitus. That's ringing/buzzing in the ears.

I'm on 60mg Prozac and have been having constant tinnitis that has become VERY annoying. I cut my Prozac down 20mg, but haven't noticed a difference. ??? I've been on 60mg Prozac before and never had this happen. Gracie, let us know if you find a resolution to your problem, ok? Good luck.
When I started Wellbutrin XL, I had ringing in my ears for about 5 days but then it went away. My doctor added Wellbutrin XL because 20 mg of Prozac no longer was enough and Prozac at a higher dosage than 20 mg can cause weight gain.
