I am on both of these...the Bupropion is a generic form of Wellbutrin which I have been taking since April (It is now Oct) It took a good 4-6 weeks for the drug to kick in. After it did, I was not only feeling better but I also experienced a side effect that was somewhat beneficial. I found it to curb my appetite, which I thought was wonderful seeing that my whole life I could never control what I ate or my weight. Unfortunately that side effect only lasted for 2 weeks and then I went back to the way I was, still feeling better however. After speaking with my therapist, she suggested I ask my doctor if there is a medication that will give me the same appetite suppression as I was experiencing. That's when I went on the topamax (Topiramate). I am a month into taking both of the drugs and I feel horrible. My depression is bad...not quite as bad as when I was on anything, but I am definitely not feeling up to par everyday. I am crying and miserable. I do not feel like doing anything or seeing anyone. I want to just lay in bed all day. I am wondering if I should give this combination of drugs a little more time because I do really want to lose weight and I am seeing a slight decrease in appetite. I go back to my doctor in 2 weeks and I need to be ready to explain to her how I am feeling because she whisks me in and out of her office so fast I forget half of what I want to say.
