OK, I went to DR #1 for something else and while I was there I finally asked about depression and left with a script for Lexapro about a year ago. Dr #1 turns out to be a quack and has rude office help. So I found Dr #2 by referral from a friend. LOVED Dr #2!!! Dr #2 says lets try Prozac, it's in the same family and it's only $4, compared to the $75 for the Lexapro. The Prozac is ok, but not as good as the Lexapro so I want to switch back (I gave it 6 weeks I think). Got bronchitis, went back to see Dr #2, she's gone! Moved out of town! So I go to the walk-in clinic. This makes Dr #3, who gives me Celexa. Hated Celexa, did not feel better at all. So now I have 2 months left of the Prozac script to find a new DR. Any suggestions? I looked it up and what I found said that Lexapro does not go generic until 2010. I really can't afford $75 a month, but if that is what I need then I guess I will do what I have to. Can I double up on the Celexa? I was thinking about going to my mom's DR (Yea, read my next post about mom). Thanks for reading, Jessi
Jessi, I don't know if this will help or not but try going directly to the drug company for help with your meds. Phizor drug company, for instance, has a drug program that will send your needed drugs free of charge if you qualify. That is how I get my anti depressants. Good luck
i take celexa 20 mg a day, it took about 3-4 weeks b4 i started feelin better, took 12 weeks to feel full effect, i wouldnt suggest doubln the celexa, give it time to work, if thats wat u r going to take, ask ur doc, wen u find one, lol, about possibly uppn the dosage, 20 mg may not b strong enough for u, good luck!
Escitalopram (Lexapro) is the therapeutically active component (S-enantiomer) of citalopram (Celexa). Escitalopram is more potent in increasing extracellular serotonin levels than citalopram . As a result, escitalopram is a more potent antidepressant than citalopram (which is a mixture of escitalopram and R-citalopram).
I suffer from depression. I take some antidepressants (usually order online at costmeds.com ). I think when you try meds, then you can choose best pill for yourself, some pills works better for 1 man, some - for another.
