Depression has become one of the most common brain diseases in the world. 23 million adults suffer from this disease which can occur when life's hardships seem intolerable, but that is not always the case. A stressful period does always cause depression, but it very well can. Major depression is classified by a one time episode possibly triggered by stress. Depression is linked to an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain leading to serious symptoms. A two week period of these symptoms including: reoccurring thoughts of suicide, decreased appetite or sleep, unexplained crying, or prolonged sadness should be met a trip with a trip to the doctor.
