Ive been depressed for over 4 years, but am only now getting help for it. Im currrently in counseling, and it helps, but lately it doesnt seem to be enough. I really did not want to use medication, but friends and family are saying I should. Im not sure if medication will do much, I dont know a lot about it. If anyone has any suggestions or could tell me what they think about the medications, I would greatly appreciate it.
It took me almost 15 years before I decided to even go to the doctor about depression. I didn't want to admit that I had it. I was started on Zoloft. For awhile it helped then I needed more help. So things were switched around. You will need to work closley with your doctor if you decide to go on medication. I chose to go off of my medication cold turkey with out doctors consent. That was a bad idea for many reasons, but I felt the difference from when I was on them and when I wasn't. Just make sure you educate yourself and also be completley honest with your doctor on how you think things are working. Good luck with your descion.
I have tried several different drugs, and some worked better than others. Some were so strong that I felt lethargic and had trouble moving my arms. Just communicate with your doctor and educate yourself on the side effects and what you'r e supposed to feel. This is a big one -- make sure you ask your doctor what you're supposed to feel if the drugs are working.
