I'm 21 years old and I deal with daily pain. 6 years ago I acquired a really severe staph infection, sick for several months and in continuous pain. Since that date I've had horrible pain from the tips of my toes to the top of my head. I've honestly been too full of pride to visit doctors and prayed that the pain would subside...
I did visit a few specialists and the family care doctors years back, but now have no insurance. It's a daily problem, working full time and wanting to continue my education.
My typical day I dread waking up, knowing the pain I will have and trying to drag myself out of bed usually takes a few hours. I am constantly fatigued and ALWAYS in pain.
I guess i'm looking to find other people such as myself and considering my age I find it hard to find other people to understand or believe my circumstances. I try to keep quit about any problems I have in everyday life to avoid frustration of peoples disbeliefs.
I just don't know how to deal with it anymore, the pain is just so horrible and it's hard to live a normal, quality life..
Welcome to ChronicPainConnection! I answered your question on the main part of our site, but I also wanted to come here and welcome you as well.
We have a lot of really great folks here who also live with chronic pain on a daily basis and can relate to what you're going through. We've also recently had some other young adults join our community, so hopefully you can connect with them. You're not alone.
Personally, I've had fibromyalgia for about 20 years and have been working with and advocating for patients for 13. As I mentioned when I answered your question, if it turns out that you have FM, I'll be more than happy to help you look into treatment options and answer any questions you might have. If not, of course I'll still be happy to help you in any way I can.
Please feel free to share your thoughts, ask questions, or just vent whenever you want. If there's anything we can do, just let us know.
