As Stacy and Karen Lee suggested I'm going to try and bring you along on my own journey to getting a Morphine Pump. I was born on a warm spring day when the world was perfect and no one had chronic pain.... I wish that was true but if you are at this website you know it that it is fantacy. many years ago I was in a horrible mortocycle accident which I think started this disaster in my body. I was 19 and believed nothing could harm me. WRONG! 20 years later my body started telling me you are "up the creek"! I went to doctor to doctor trying to find the answer to get any kind of pain relief. They gave me drugs and therpy(I can't spell worth a hill of beans so please forgive) I stayed on anti-inflamatory drugs till my body regected them(naprosyn, feldine, ect.) No help, with anything I tried and I tried everything from Facet injections to Holistic medicine. Codien was given till I became allergic to all of the above. Next was the new drug VICODEN and SOMA for the next 10 years. I became deaf, totally deaf from being on VICODEN for so long I now have a Implant in my left ear just to hear sounds. I mostly use lip reading. The pain became worst, on and on I sufered. I got so many injections of steriods in trigger point areas you can play "connect the dots". My mother first told me about the Morphine pump 5 years ago since she and the rest of the family are in Medicine and work in hospitals. I thought "No way, I'm not going to do that!" The pain is so bad now that I am ready for any relief!!! I finnaly found a doctor who puts them in. It has taken me a year just to find him. I'm scheduled this Tuesday for the "Trial Pump" they will put a needle in my spine where the final pump will be inserted. They want to see if it will help first because I guess it's not for everyone. The doc gave me a CD on the entire procedure and of course with my luck I messed up inserting it into my computer to answer my questions but now I need a new Mother Board just to open the file (CD). I'll have the permanet pump befor I can get the CD to tell me what they will be doing to my spine. Please don't get me wrong, I'm so happy just to be able to recive the trial that I'll do anything just to get this started. I have heard so many good things about the pump I'll have it done without the CD info. I have alot of questions but I'm writing them down to ask the doc before I go into surgery. It's this Tuesday and me and my family can't wait! Pray for me that it works....I'll be happy if they can take 50% of the pain away. I'll keep you updated as I go along. God Bless, Teresa
