I have a persistent and painful neck and back problem, not to mention a recently sprained shoulder. The problem is (besides the aforementioned)the doctor prescribed me codeine, at first, which didn't work at *all*; then they gave me hydrocodone, which works at ridiculously high dosages (40mg) and is a prescription that I'm having an understandably difficult time getting. It's becoming horribly frustrating and I don't know why this is happening and what to do about it. No doctor is going to prescribe 40mg of hydrocodone, so I go through my prescription way to fast. They won't prescribe that high a dose because they're afraid of me becoming addicted. But not only can I stop and start at will, but I don't seem to be affected mentally, at all, either. (Bummer) Anyway, I'm probably flagged on some DEA computer somewhere as either a drug addict or dealer and, because of the whole "addiction" thing, the doctors won't prescribe percocet for "just" a neck and back problem (that affects every part of my life). Help help help! Thanks!

Hi - sounds like a problem .. did you have any MRI's taken ? or just Xray's ?

If so , what type of doctor are you seeing ?

If it is a muscle issue , then ask for Ultram or UltramER .. or try Alleve ..

If there is a disc or fracture .. has the nuero tried prescribing a steriod instead ?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but having been dx'd with several issues , usually a diagnoses, dx, is given .. scans, xrays and mri's are usually done, when you are in such pain .. and Hydrocodone is strong, and high in Tylenol ..

We here would love to give you suggestions, but w/o knowing who you see, and what tests are done , it isn't that easy ...

Please write back, and be a bit more specific , you may get some answers or better suggestions ... agserra
