First of all I want to thank Karen for taking the time to write this letter. I read the letter and it brought me to tears. My husband left me with our 3 year old daughter 2 years ago when all of my pain started stating he just couldn't handle the situation. Since then, he has accused me about everything from faking to being a drug addict. I totally understand what you are saying in this letter and wished I had those words when all of this was going on. I have actually tried to stop taking meds to prove to him that I was NOT addicted only to find myself in the hospital from withdrawls and the severe pain from my Arachnoiditis. I remember the nurse telling me that if my husband had walked in anytime during the time I was in there she personally would have kicked his butt. I now understand that I am NOT "addicted" to my meds but my body needs them to get up everyday and do the little things I can with my daughter.

Thanks again for writing this letter. I am actually going to send it to him today in the mail.

God Bless

Theresa

Hi Theresa,

I'm so glad the letter helped you. It breaks my heart every time I hear a story like yours. Unfortunately I hear them much too often. The divorce rate for people with a chronic illness is an astounding 75 percent! I'm afraid the vow "...in sickness and in health..." isn't taken too seriously these days.

I hope your new-found confidence that your medications are not controlling you but you are controlling your medications helps you to move on and make a good life for you and your daughter. We're here anytime you have a question or just need to chat.

I wish you the best.

Karen

thank you for your kind words. And I too am so glad that I found this place. I only wish I had found it sooner it would have probably made things a little easier in my darkest times. I look forward to a lot of positive times here in this room.
God Bless
