Good luck Dyan!

"Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they're wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It's all in how you carry it. That's what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you're letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.” -Jim Morrison

That's great, Dyan. Will you be staying overnight? Or will you be going to a hotel afterwards? How long will you stay in Michigan?
I know all too well how it is to travel and have surgery, as do several people here. If you have any questions let us know.
I'm trying to think of some tips for you that I learned from my surgeries in Chicago.. one is to ask the hotel ahead of time if they can provide you with a blender. This is of course if you are staying in an extended stay hotel that has a small kitchen area. I would recommend that if it is available. It is difficult to stay in a regular hotel when you are recovering since you will be on a very soft, if not liquid diet.
The particular hotel we stayed at was the Marriott chain and they had a happy hour every night with dinner/heavy snacks which my Mom took advantage of so she didn't have to cook a ton. Also they had breakfast in the morning.
The other thing is that they will go grocery shopping for you which is really nice.
Anyway that's all I can remember at the moment but hopefully it helps a little.
