Hi, was just wondering if anyone has tried a TENS unit and has it helped with spine pain?

I used to get treatment with a TENS unit at my chiropractor. It worked, but only for a short time. I've heard the same thing from other people, and understand that a lot of people end up just giving in and buying a home unit.

Hi,
I don't have spine pain, however I have used a TENS and have one at home. It really depends what type of pain you have (what caused it, etc).
I wrote an article about TENS - it's here:

This might help with some of the questions you have. If not, feel free to ask more Smiler
Sincerely,
Stacy

Hi ,
I bought a tens machineand it works ok. i've found it to be about as effective as a good massage with the advantage of the machine taking longer to tire. Mine's an old 1 that runs on 9v batteries but I hear the new ones plug into mains power. Sometimes i've even found the wheat bag to be about as effective with a lot less setting up. Hope this helps. Even with the Chinese herbs, tens , wheat bag , electric massager and rubbing the affected area myself , I still need high-strength painkillers.

One day. There'll be a cure for pain. That's the day. I throw my drugs away.

Nearly a year without replies. This place is a graveyard :-(

You can buy a TENS unit for $40 from your chiropractor (unless she's a cheat) or eBay.

I'm not depressed, but i have 2 crushed vertebra and opiates don't help much anymore. The day i finally found my TENS unit, i was on my way home and was planning on killing myself. They make a BIG difference...

There is no limit to the amount of pain a human being can feel.

While i wait for my pills to start working - it feels like i am being raped.

So net guy, you're saying the tens unit helped? I agree replies take a while here and it's not that easy to navigate. But if you're still around, I have to disagree. I think there are limits and are body pushes us past them. Only chronic pain sufferers can understand how you can be totally happy, not depressed, and still want to kill yourself because the pain is so bad. Our family, doctors, and the government don't understand. They all think that means you are depressed and in denial. They don't understand that pain can surpass everything. I don't understand your comment on feeling like you're being raped because of the pain. I was raped and I am in chronic pain but I would not compare the two. -aimes

hey-
i have a TENS unit and it can help some~ it is worth a try. you can ask your doctor for a prescription and get your insurance to cover it- that's what i did and i have really terrible insurance.
i don't use mine much but that's only because i wear so many braces- you can only wear so many contraptions! Eeker
the stickies don't work well on the neck- other than that- it works as long as you still have feeling.
oh and btw. i can understand the comparison between pain and being raped-
they are just two different kinds of pain- both excruciating- both stealing your rights- making your body your enemy... i could go on and on and on~
if you need a friend, i'm around~ prismed

Let me put it this way...
Some people swear by 'em
Some people swear at 'em
But I've never heard anyone say it made them worse like some surgeries and other therapies can/have.

Good Luck.
