If i take Nurofen plus while I'm on oxycontin, will it help , hinder or make me sick ? Just trying to get more pain relief with less oxys and I have some nurofen plus left over. I've googled around and can't find anything either positive or negative about mixing the two.

One day. There'll be a cure for pain. That's the day. I throw my drugs away.

I couldn't find anything about mixing Nurofen and OxyContin either. I would strongly recommend you call your pharmacist or doctor before taking both, especially since Nurofen contains codeine as well as ibuprophen. It's usually easiest to get in touch with a pharmacist and they are generally quite willing to answer your questions.

Please let us know what your pharmacist †ells you.

Bet wishes,
Karen

Hi Karen,
The chemist said that codeine is about 1/10th the strength of oxycodone therefore I would just be putting extra strain on my liver and not getting any more relief. I also found that if I stop drinking my chinese herbs , no amount of painkillers , short of a dose that would knock me out, is going to stop the pain. Looks like I'm on both for life but I don't have cancer and I'm no longer confined to a wheelchair, so I'm not complaining.

Thanks for letting us know what you found out. That's good information to know. I'm also interested in your comment about using Chinese herbs. What herbs do you use? Since you said you drink them, I'm guessing you make a tea out of them?

Hi again,
The "potion" I take is a mix of about 9 different chinese herbs in powder form. It used to come as raw herbs and you had to boil it yourself for an hour ,but now , you just add hot water to the powder and drink it. The formula is called Gui Shi and is mainly to help with poor circulation , which is the source of most of my pain. If I have any other complaints , my herbalist just changes the mix slightly until they're cured.( I was given hep-c during a blood transfusion and after a course of the herbs , my liver count is about 300 , which I'm told is pretty good.) If anyone reading this has tried acupuncture and deemed it to be a load of bull , remember that acupuncturists are like doctors , some are much better than others. I tried 4 other acupuncturists before I found one who could actually help me. If I take my herbs regularly, 20mg of oxycontin sr will usually kill the pain , but if I stop taking the herbs , 60mg barely takes the edge off. That's the kind of difference they make.
The taste ???
Better than broccoli. Smiler
