I suffer from pain due to scoliosis as well as damage to my hip and SI from an accident.
I've been taking Ultram ER 200mg and 10-15mg of hydrocodone for breakthrough pain.

I, like 10-20% of others, experience an atypical response to opioids: rather than making me sleepy, they hype me up. 10mg of hydrocodone effects me like 2 or 3 cups of strong coffee. As a results, I cannot use it in the evening, though that is often when my pain is at its worst.

My doctor is very conservative and don't think he'll approve my request, but I am wondering about cesamet or marinol. I need something to help with the pain in the evening, something that will allow me to sleep.

Does anyone have experience with these drugs? Or any other non-opiods which can help? I've tried all the muscle relaxants, gabapentin, lyrica, etc.. -- they make me too nauseous!

Thanks.
