I was taken off my migraine abortive because of angina and breathing problems, and while it is true the Imitrex made these a whole lot worse, the symtpoms have not entirely gone away. The chest pains do not concern me overly, since they are not that bad... I think more a result of my heart palipatations and skipped beats lately. What does concern me is the breathing issue, as it is nothing I have had with FMS before.

It basically feels like my chest gets heavy. I can breath in fairly well, sometimes with some wheezing, but when I exhale it seems like nothing is coming out. It comes on suddenly, only lasts a few minutes and occurs every couple of days. It happens when I am lying down, when I am sitting it is just more a heavy feeling and awareness of breathing a little off, sometimes with a fluttering heart rate (which I can actually feel the beat on the surface of my chest.)

My doctor essentailly brushed this off as a Imitrex side effect, and certainly a lot worse when I was taking the injections and a lot more frequent. I mentioned it was persisting, but she has not investigated it any. So essentially I am wondering if this is something anyone has experienced with FMS, or has any idea what this might be? It has been months now and so it is not just 'one of those things' that flares up for a couple of weeks and then fades away for awhile. Nor is it the slightly breathless feeling you get when your heart skips a few beats.

The heart palpitations remind me of something I had a number of years ago. It was easily corrected with surgery. I had a condition called Supra Ventricular Tachycardia. It may help you to get a referral to a cardiologist for further study of your problem. The palpitations can cause the breathing problem.

I certainly hope that you've been able to reasolve this issue as well.
Do you take opiates???
One thing that I've come to wonder about with my opiate pain therapy, is that some of the concerns with the use of opiates is it lowers or slows your resparation.
During the past year, I've noticed that I seem to have a little congestion when I wake in the morning and am not sure as to why. I normally cough a couple of times and it resolves itself, but it has concerned me at times.

Just a thought

"Only by openness to the mystery of God, who is love, can our hearts' thirst for truth and happiness be satisfied; only the perspective of eternity can give authentic value to historical events and above all to the mystery of human frailty, suffering and death."

It turns out the breathing issues are from asthma.. go figure. Which is far as I am aware is not a comorbid condition, which is why I was a bit surprised.
