Since my first thread was completely ruined I hope this one isnt...........
Anyway to Cindy and others that may be interested......
I went to see the TMJ Chirodontist tonight (Adeliine) My first consultation was 55mins including my full history. First I must say I was really nervous as i had no idea what she was going to do to me..
First and foremost my jaw isnt dislocated....... she explained to me how tight the muscles holding my jaw discs are and thats why i dont have much mobility and freedom in my jaw - THEYRE SO TIGHT! the left is the inital problem and the right side is trying to compensate and is also tight (left side is always clicking).
She firstly tested the basics, told me to close my eyes and keep my feet together and yes i kinda swayed a bit which showed her I was offline. She explained that i have the typical hip position for a TMJ sufferer so its slightly offline. She then sat me on the bed and did reflexes etc and a bit of kinesology to check my muscle biofeedback etc. She checked my back and its strength which was ok however my neck area was quite stiff.
She THEN put some little gloves on her thumbs and went into my mouth boy did my body tense up (my boyfriend was sitting in the room and he knew how nervous i was) She basically gently pulled my jaw towards her and forward but only slightly as Im so tight that its hard for me to let it all go and relax so i held her hands as she did it. Hopefully next time i can last this exercise longer as I was just to nervous for her to do it on her own.
After this as i was still lying on my back Adeline told me to cross my arms over and lean to one side whilst she pushes against my body and the cracking that i hear will not be my bones.....but it will be some sort of gas bubbles.. hmmmmmmmm when the crack happened it certainly sounded like my middle bone in my back LOL it was loud enough for my boyfriend to hear in the background so yeah i wonder if she was messing with me......heheh.
One more thing she did is she had some little instrument...this is gonna be hard for me to explain but the best I can do is it was like a little gun puncher hahah it had a rubbery end to it and she used that around my neck and jaw area to loosen up the tense muscles - it was like a punch to the face but gently, not too bad.
That was basically it.... I cant believe I survived that session!! She told me she will call me tomorrow to see how I am doing, thats so nice of her.
She has recommended I come in twice a week for the next month....yikes! so i have only 2 days to relax before i stress out going there again on Monday hahah!
Oh and she had referred me to go and get full scans of my spine so the result of that should be interesting and hopefully i can go tomorrow.
One last thing, Adeline recommended that when I leave her clinic to go for a slow 10min walk before sitting in the car to drive home...just to settle everything down.. I did it and boy was my jaw stiff and tense afterwards...only bec when i worry thats where my stress ends up, straight to my jaw and enhances the condition even more...
Anyway I'll leave it here this is such a long one! Just wanted to let you know how I went and Im off to sleep now Im gonna sleep like a baby tonight.
On that note goodnight and keep smiling.

Hi MissMinx, Wow, that is very interesting - a "Chirodontist." That's an interesting label for a chiropractor. Just keep in mind that she isn't a dentist, so if you have any questions deifnitely ask your dentist or general practitioner. Did anything she did hurt while she did it? I can totally imagine being scared out of your mind when she put her hands into your mouth. I would be too!! I guess the biggest question, is how are you going to feel tomorrow?? Anyway, glad it went well, Sincerely, Stacy
I still havent knocked off for the night and I saw your post, thanks for the reply.
Yes she is a TMJ Chirodontist... I know and when I read up on her history I just knew that it was an avenue I havent tried and that I needed to. In her front desk area where the receptionist sits, Adeline has put up a board with photos of children ranging from 4 yrs of age until 13yrs that she has treated with TMJ and back problems -- it made me smile how brave those children looked in the photos..
Anywayyy I know Im in good hands...whether it works for me or not I will not know at this stage. Right now I feel ok...Im home and calmer now and settled in... Im not sure how ill feel tomorrow, we'll see.. hmm hopefully nothing bad flares up the next day, Im not sure if this happens usually after such a session..
Nothing hurt at the time she had her fingers in my mouth, the pulling feeling just felt so awkward but there was no pain. I just wouldnt let her go further cause I think if i did thats when pain may have been caused.. I think each session this procedure may get easier.. we'll see (i dont like it tough) Also while she was inside she kinda gave me a massage around the back areas.
Alright this is goodnight offically
Talk soon. MissMinx

MissMinx.........sounds like you had a very productive appointment. I am glad it went will and you are very comfortable with your Dr. That alone is very important.
I hope things continue to go well with your treatmenet and that the scan of your spine comes back OK.......well maybe it might just show a little something so you can get on the road to feeling better..(I hope that made sense ).
Take care and I look forward to reading more about your treatment.
I would love to talk to you more about this. I've got tons of questions. I added you to my "buddies" list but wasn't able to send a private e-mail so as not to overwhelm the forum with my chatter whippetiggy AT yahooDOTcom
Thanks for your reply. I think I have found the right person for me...for the first time I actually am seeing someone that not only knows a lot about TMJ but also about aligning the spine and hips and does it with such ease...
I had my 2nd session last night and boy is Adeline good... Again she did a heap of different things to me..not just crack this and crack that and goodnight..Im talking just ONE small crack of the back and the rest is through aligning the body completely and not with any force - she has all these different techniques and keeps checking things through muscle feedback.
She freaked me out at one stage - she tucked her fingers deep into my lower left side of my stomach and held her fingers there for a while - I dont know what she was holding but she said to me 'you had a boozy weekend didnt you'.... OH MY GOD she knew I had a few too many wines on Saturday night by just doing this!! She was so RIGHT!! She said by doing this technique she is releasing toxins in my body..
So as you can see this TMJ Chirodontist has a few tricks up her sleeve I never expected... I cant say anything yet as its early days but I'll keep at it twice a week and see how it all goes.
Again she did some more jaw work on me...popped her fingers in my mouth and massaged the insides quite deeply. Also did the pulling of the jaw forward which made me cringe again but she didnt force it of course.
I got my full spinal xrays done today after work so the results will make it to Adeline for my Friday night appointment... Will be very interested to see what is happening with my spine...
Hope I'm not boring anyone with so much info hahah! Anyway take care and hope to speak to you all soon.
Cheers from MissMinx

I got my xray results back from my spine and neck! IM FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t have scoliosis and my lower back, mid back and top of the neck is great!! Just a little lower than the top of my neck there is a slight bend to the right side but that’s definitely to do with work when Im typing documents Im always looking to the left therefore it is easily corrected!! Im so happy about that...its like one less thing to worry about... I really thought that my TMJ has stuffed up my back and neck, I thought I was really crooked but Im not.
Session number 3 was by far the best for me. I feel realllllly comfortable with her. I even let her pull my jaw forward a little further tonight aswell as the massage she gave me inside my mouth area she really dug in deep and guess what??? I left with a smile and im still smiling!!! I don’t have any tension right now compared to the first visit and my jaw feels looser when I stepped out. She did some adjustments to my neck and back just to keep everything up to scratch and I walked out of there floating So yes its only been my third session and now i cant wait to go back for more.
Like I said she not only adjusts the body, she concentrates on the jaw, 2 exercises, one pulling the jaw forward with her thumbs in my mouth and two she massages inside my mouth right at the back quite deeply with her fingers and even though theres a little pain its still a good feeling when its over because I felt looser.
My boyfriend Dave was with me yet again and he was very proud of me. She cracked my neck and back but not the bones just got rid of the subluxtion but it sounds as though its your bones cracking.
She used her little hammer puncher instrument and so called light 'punched' my jaw and cheeks in certain spots. She did some cranial work which is ever so relaxing aswell as again her usual kinesology muscle feedback work around my body...she does it all!
When my boyfriend Dave and I arrived in the waiting area before my session.... a lady went into the session room before me with her cute little DOG...now Adeline doesnt usually treat pets but on this occasion she has accepted and is treating a little dog for posture and well being...he had a traumatic experience and couldnt barely move for weeks and weeks. AFter seeing Adeline for 5 sessions he is walking faster each day and getting better....... ADELINE DOES HER MAGIC ON A DOG.......... hahah sounds crazy huh.
Well its almost 11pm here in Melbourne and Ive had a long day but finished it off on a good note
I have my next appointment on Monday night. Goodnight everyone.
