I was wondering if any of you have had success treating your TMJ with a neuromuscular dentist or a physical medicine dentist. My general dentist just pronounced me beyond his skill level and wants to refer me to a "specialist". I have lots of muscular dysfunction and spasms. I have spent so much money already, I want to try to make the right choice! I'm taking a 6 month treatment sabbatical to try to figure out what I want to do. The physical medicine approach uses physical therapy and massage therapy, nutrition, behavioral therapy, manipulative techniques and trigger point injections in addition to the usual splints, etc. Thanks for any experiences you can share!
