I thought I'd get this started again. I know many of you have some great creations to satisfy our tastebuds, yet only using soft foods and liquids. Let's share our recipes and ideas. I know I go too long without eating often times, simply because it's time consuming for me to make something "special". I'm looking for quick and easy meals that I can eat on a day I'm in pain. Anyone??

Well, I tend to stick to soft salads like a quick tuna or egg salad.. or ice cream.. hehe.
I don't really have any 'recipes' for you, but I can certainly look through the cookbook they gave me when I had my joints taken out.. "Dinner Through a Straw" - it was published in the 80's. hahaha! Some of the food was just... disgusting.

Oh yea. When I broke my jaw and was wired it was anything and everything that would fit in a blender. I discovered a whole lot of things that shouldn't be blended.

I've been having a lot of fish lately. Haddock or flounder breaded and cooked in the oven, salmon seared on a skillet, scallops, whatever is on special at the market. It's soft, warm, and sort-of meat. The cafeteria at work made an absolutely delicious baked scrod the other day, I might have to try copying it.

Soup and salad is my backup plan if I can't come up with anything else.

BBQ Chicken thighs.. They are tender (perfectly tender) for me to chew and salad..I LOVE salads...

Also- I dig the sunrise strawberry smoothies from Jamba... You can make them at home - Yogurt, banana's, strawberries and ice... yumm!!

Does wine count - ahahahahahahaha (shush Nic)

Banana's.. You can cut them small enuf to chew without hurting and get good vitamines etc.

In stores now they sell these great Chai Tea Smoothie drinks that have a great amount of protein and GOOD carbs in them... i'll try and find the name of them... I get them weekly.

I was told by a doctor years ago that bananas can contribute to migraines. Could be something to keep in mind.

Do you guys want me to re-post recipes that were on the old site?

It will take some time, I had to do a full restore, so I lost the info... but if you think it will help, i will be happy to post a few a night.

Let me know what your thoughts are..........

I would love easy and quick recipes that go beyond shakes, smoothies and soups, thanks Lisa! I tend to skip meals all together which is so unhealthy!
My favourite "meal" is gnocchi (Italian potato dumplings) rolled in pesto. If they are cooked well and are mushy they taste just like they do when I can chew. God Bless that Italian Mother-in-Law of mine who makes the best gnocchi ever!

Hey, y'all.. I realise that the last post regarding recipes was a LONGG time ago; since I have not found the "recipe" section, I've been posting some of my favs of late on shareposts.. Now, some of the things I eat are kinda disgusting for others to even think of; I only post the things I am sure more people would like. lately, I'm mashing a LOT of potatoes and creaming a LOT of vegies, meat, and fish.. I know, it does not sound great but, there's NO CHEWING for me right now! Gotta get something nutritious in my system now and before I lose much more weight!!!
Let me know and I'll post some of my easier, more tastier, recipes...
Anne

Hi all, thought I would post some of the stuff I was eating when I couldn't chew (right now I can chew most things, but still use these ideas on days with bad pain). To get protein I started eating refried beans with melted cheese and hot sauce with a spoon - like a burrito without the tortilla. And the other best thing I was eating is the tiny pastas was tomato sauce and ricotta cheese - they go down easily without chewing and are a great way to get your carbs. After I started eating this stuff I was able to maintain my weight and feel a TON better physically. And they were nice hot food alternatives to milkshakes.

Anne, post as many recipes as you can think of, its really nice to have variety, even when you can't chew!

Pain free days to all,
Heather
