Guidelines for the Daily Grind
What is the Daily Grind?
The Daily Grind has been set up for those who would like to get together with others who understand their pain and to make some friends on the internet. We try to keep this one thread very lite and easy conversation. This may seem boring for some and others may be interested in more substantial conversations and that is Great. If anyone would like to talk about more serious topics and your not sure how to go about starting your new thread, then please ask me and I will be more than happy to either explain it for you or set one up for your topic. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to share in more stimulating conversations and I Know I will join you and participate too, but we are just keeping this particular conversation for lite and east visiting with a more support group atmosphere.
EVERYONE IS SAFE & WELCOME HERE! So come on in and join us any time you feel like it.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a private message and I'll do all I can to help you.
Have a wonderful day Betty

Well, since you allwill not see this till morning, I'll say Good Mornin friends, I hope you made it over here.
I had a pretty fair but rainey saturday. Rod is on days (7am-3pm) this week, so I wanted to get myself up a bit earlier and actually was able too. I had teh normal stiffness & pain, but once I went through the am routine (Meds & java & am prayers) I logged onto the lappy for a bit and did a few things, then got up to dress and I actually was able and feeling well enough to vaccume, mop (the kitchen & Br) and just do some picking up and cleaning. stripped our bed and washed everything and then got the bed made before Rod got home. Helen had called and asked me to stop by and check her dog if I made a trip to town, so as not to over do, I ran down and called in an order of dinner to go for Rod & I and stopped to take Care of Helen's doggie concern. Not a big deal, cleaned her dogs ears out and put some meds in and she'll be fine. The important part is that Helen knows she's fine. So I'm feeling a bit tired tonight & my pain is up a bit, but just took my night meds and I'll be fine in a bit. It's tomorrow that I have to worry about. giggle!
Adrian; I'm sorry your having to go through some undecided stress over your moving, life in general and with Mom. I know how having some mental stress can even cause our pain & Fm to flare up, which follows with the dreaded brain fatigue and fog. I just hope you'll be feeling better in a few days and like always I'll be asking him to reveal his will for you. gentle big hug my friend.
Chuck; This winter has just been Hell on all of us, but I think your really feeling the brunt of it. I too hope you get to feeling better and can get out in the sunshine soon, the uv rays will do us all some good and I recently read another study that shows the benefits for lower pain levels from getting more uv rays from the sun or even in a tanning bed, so we'll try and get as much as we can.
Mark; Just thinking about your hours in the car, makes my pain climb. I know how exhausting a long day on the road can be. Get your rest friend and I hope to visit somemore about your thoughts on FM. I have a couple of really good sites & articles that I think may interest you too.
Good night for now friends, I hope you all are resting well and haveing a peaceful night at home. My prayers are with each of you and I hope all is well or better in the am.
Hugs & warm thoughts for you all Betty

7 plus hours in the car did take both a mental and physical toll on me BUT I'd like to discuss whether or not I have FMS based on the link from last month ... I re-posted the major issues over here that are mentioned in mentioned in Wilkpedia: (1) Trauma (2) Problems with Sleeping and (3) Brain Fog
Good morning all, Nothing like coffee and a new grind! Got up at my normal 7 am and had meds then fogged in the chair for a while, had a lot of trouble getting to sleep last nite. Not usually an issue for me with the soma, anyway today will be a better day. We're looking for 3 days up in the 70's. hope you all have a nice WARM day I'll check back a lil later. Chuck

Good morning ! Alas , Marko you will have to see a "specialist" to get that determination .. rheumotologists are your best bet .. Spinal Trauma does not mean everyone is going to develop FMS .. in fact I am not even sure if it the major cause or just an underlying cause as the above are secondary symptoms at best .. Interrupted sleep can come from anything , such as meds & pain issues alone and stress , and brain fog , well the same , pain & meds and stress ..
There is quite substantial details here in the on FMS .. but just because you read something that has some issues you may be dealing , FMS is quite more involved and the 3 facts you stated do not make for FMS .. in fact they can account for many, many illnesses .. my dear friend .. please don't get hurt by what I am saying .. but you sure can get to a rhuemotologist and he will take a detailed history of your life events , and will know exactly where the trigger points are and how to determine whether or not you have Fibro .. please don't give yourself a headache now , and start thinking you have this issue ..
Remember Harley ? She wanted a dx so badly to have a reason for why she was hurting and all, we suggested therapy , asking for anti-depressants , as depression can cuase these same issues, we suggested MRI and she responded they showed nothing to explain her pain .. that may very well be because her pain was coming from her deep depression . But we are not doctors here and asking anyone of us to make that determination based on just the three factors you pulled from some report you read do not make for a proper dx.
After saying that, don't expect any miracles, after all this time hearing Betty and I speak about our pain, you should understand that treatment is up to the doc, basics are definate : Excersize, Stretching, no lifting heavy heavy objects .. etc ... and what are you expecting to solve by even thinking about this awful disease ? If I may ask , as a friend.
Please, I am begging you not to dwell on this, and if you suspect that you may have FMS , then get your butt to a professional who can really tell you yes or no .. there are so many illnesses out there that cause the symptoms (3) you named above .. do not do ant more research so you are not swayed by what you read please, and you will get your honest answer and good luck .... A (arrgh)
Good Morning All,
another damp rainy day ... at least yesterday was a sunny day ... a great day to go to Philadelphia!
Adrian, my friend, whether or not I have FMS is not something that I dwell on since it will not change anything by dwelling on anything ... I appreciate your concern but whatever treatments and evaluations that I'm currently receiving will take care of both the pain and what is actually wrong with me ... I was merely trying to respond to something that Ms. Betty had said and Wilkpedia (not really a good source of info) had shown lots of similarities between the development of my depression, headaches, and high levels of pain (mostly in my back and neck in addition to my migraines) ... of course, I do not wish to add another illness to my list but I did see some commonalities that I was addressing in what I saw in the FMS information that I read ... as I get my MRI of my neck and my diag's progress, I'll know more but I am certainly not dwelling on it.
Again, I am not trying (by any means) to be any worse off than I already am ... I hope that I made this clear.
It's a damp overcast w/rain showers day here in the Pacific NW, it's 46* and due to the very nice warm fire I have going, I have a couple of windows open for some fresh air too. lol My house is clean from yesterdays energy, so I can know spend my Sunday relaxing, although I may give the poodle a hair cut.
I see everyone made it over here just fine today, was not sure if you checked your mail first in the am or if you headed here, but figured you guys are getting used to this new monthly change thing and would wind up finding it anyway.
My new plan of teaching Helen to operate & fix her own tv is proving to work much better. She called late last night and her tv was messed up, she had gotten it off channel 04, so she did not have a picture. I was able to instruct her by phone on how to fix it and explain it better as to what she had done to end up in this position, so I felt good about our new approach in helping her learn.
I was wondering if any of you are interested in having a chat later, just let us know and we can make it at about 5 or 6pm my time, so it's not too late for you guys, if you want it later, then just speak up, I'm open for changes.
I hope your all having a nice peaceful day and Adrian is enjoying her trip to the market and down town walk. I'm really happy to hear that our friend Chuck is having some sunshine, he really deserves it. Mark; I think I understand exactly what Adrian is saying and she does not want your research to taint your docs ability to make a dx, if in fact you have fm. My PC knew everything about me and actually he had already eliminated a few things through blood tests he ordered & a few other tests he did with out my knowledge of him doing so. When my pain doc diagnosed me with fm, it was a huge shock for me, as I did not want to have an illness with such a bad stigma or what ever you'd call it and I just wanted what was wrong with me to be very plain & simple. I guess we're not allowed to make such decisions for our life, but I know I really did not want to except it. But anyway, I know what it's like to wonder too.
Have a Great day friends Gentle Hugs & hopes that your all enjoying your day of rest. Betty

I'm up for a chat at the time(s) that better gave ... 5 PM Pacific Time would work out the best for me since it will still be on the early side here (8 PM), so my vote is for 5 PM Pacific time ... I hope to see you all there!
Hey It's afternoon here in WA. I'm afraid I've had a change of plans and will not beable to chat that early this evening. My hubby wants me to help him with somethings, so I gotta take care of his needs first. I'll try and check back in after bit and if anyone is hanging around, give me a nudge. Sorry bout that, did not expect him to need me, as he was at work all day and I thought he had a ball game when he got home, but it's tomorrow. hugs friends Betty

Well as the Brits say (or whoever actually said it), "... the best laid plans of both mice and men often go awry" [LOL] ... Well, I'll keep my MSN Messenger lamp burning in case we wind up doing a group chat or in case any of y'all want to do a one-on-one chat.
Good Evening All, Here’s what I was talking about (re: FMS), since Betty had mentioned the possibility of how PTSD(s) can be involved in some sort of way with FMS … I searched the Web and found the following extract from
“Stress Studies have shown that stress is a significant precipitating factor in the development of fibromyalgia,[32] and that PTSD is linked with fibromyalgia.[33][34] The Amital study found that 49% of PTSD patients fulfilled the criteria for FMS, compared with none of the controls.”
Since I have 3 PTSD incidents, I thought that Betty may be on to something re: the connection of PTSD and FMS.
In recent years, I’ve had 3 such incidents: dealing with 9-11 both mentally and physically (since shards of steel and glass hit both of my eyes when I was next door to the Pentagon on that awful day), the beltway snipers randomly shooting people at the places where I shop and buy gas, and Josh’s incident of violence against Audrey.
I’m not looking to throw myself a pity party (or anything like that) but Betty has recognized something that warrants further investigation.
I hope that I cleared up what I meant BUT please let me know if I haven’t cleared things up.
I finally got the poodle partially clipped, helped Rod out and then made dinner for us, it's been a long time since I've cooked a whole meal, but it was nice and I know how much Rod appreciates the night off. He's training for his marathon and really pushing himself. It's one month from today in Eugene Oregon. I'll be able to take my puter and have wireless. YeaH!
I've had a couple of busy days and I'm a bit worn out, did not sleep very well and the insomnia dragon had me awake till after 3 am and I still got myself up at 9am anyway. One of these days I'm gonna have to face that I have no control of my sleeping either. what a crazy life we painiacs lead.
I'm sorry about not being able to chat tonight. It's just that Rods shifts are so strange, it's rare for us to have evenings together and I should of thought of that earlier, so I could let you all know. When he wants to spend time, I just want to clear my own plans and spend time with him, after all, I do have so many nights alone and I really think it would hurt his feelings and I don't like to do that, I love being with him.
I've hunted, searched and researched every type of satellite connection and now I'm back to Hughesnet, as every other place seems to be able to work, except for in the location that our home is in and I've driven around and looked at everyones dishes on their roofs and the only ones people around me have are Hughesnet dishes, so I'm trying to figure out how to gather up the set up fees, the monthly payment is lower than the price of our extra phone line & aol, but it's just the darn set up fee's and they don't have any sales or promotions going on either. They probably know how desperate for highspeed all of us country and mountain folk are and they can make $4 off us, but such is the american way. It was the same with cable tv too, we spent years all excited to go to a motel so we had more than 5 stations on the tv. lol Crazy
Well, I'm gonna finish a couple of things and get ready for bed, who knows, maybe I can fall asleep earlier and actually get some good rest. NOT!
Hugs guys Betty

Good groggy mornin all, After several cups of coffee the fog has somewhat lifted, woke at 5 then up at 7 for meds. The fog is rough some times. Beats the alternative I geuss. Nice yesterday in the 70's, hope fully again today. I have a trip to wally world on the slate for today always fun. i did get a nice walk yesterday, it had been a few days and man was i sore. Hopefully today won't be as bad pain wise. Betty, Hughes net pretty much has the market here too. My friend who has them found and ought some used equipment(come to find out) and payed the set up fee. I think over all it'll be worth it. It'll make The"net" so much easier and fun to have, there's a lot you're limited to witth dial up. Well i'm off to the airport to log some stick time. chuck
I haven't slept this late in ages ... my son Josh has the whole family virtual bowling with something called WII ... sometimes I feel like I'm living in a virtual world ... most of what I see is on the internet or TV ... my 2 kids run away from the dinner table to re-enter the virtual world of their computers and cable TV ... gotta get rolling now!
I'm up at my normal time and having a cup of the good stuff and waititng for my meds to help me lower this pain. Have I ever told you how much I love my heating pad? Giggle I bought me a couple from my doctors office with digital timer & temp settings. They were more expensive than your average heating pads, but very worth it. I've fallen asleep a time or two on the only lo/med/hi ones and really burnt myself. It was really dumb of me, but when your pain gets higher than the buning feeling of the pad, it really messes you up. Mine never stays on more than an hour and for regular use I keep it around 100d, so it does not hurt me like the other ones do. On these cold damp days, I wish I had a body heating pad, so I could get all the pain to come down with just a little heat.
It's another wet & soggy day, here in Wa state, I have the day in peace and I have to finish a little bit of clipping on my poodle, I did all her fine points like face, neck, feet, etc and today I just have to go over her body and then she's done. I want to take her fluff down. I'm not a groomer, but since I don't work anymore, I clip and take care of all the dogs needs myself(it's the vet tech in me) but I'm so slow at clipping and she gets tired of having to stand on the counter, so I've began clipping her over a couple of days instead of all at once.
Chuck; Thanks for your input too. I'm just sure now that I have to go with them or stick to dial up. Glad you got a good walk in and hoping Wally World is not too busy and you don't get ran over by the crowds. Have a good day
Mark; What did you think of the Wii? My sons roomate has that one too. I guess they can play golf, pingpong and all kinds of different games with it. The graphics are supposed to be really cool. I bet it was fun playing with the kids though. I used to play nintendo with the boys and we had some fun. You have a wonderful day too.
I'll check back later Have a nice day Big Hugs
PS; Adrian I hope is well in your land. Luvs ya hon
