Chronic Pain

Hi my name is Carrie. My husband had a pain pump placed 1 year ago. He has DDD, spinal stenosis, khyphosis, scroleosis. Has lived with pain for 20 years. Finally sent to specialist who surgically placed a pain pump with morphine and bupvicaine. Has gone for routine pump turn ups. He was taking methadone 10 mg x 10 per day, Oxy Ir 5 mg x 20 per day and Flexeril three times daily. After 6 months of adjustments he weined himself off all the methadone. He now takes the Oxy Ir still and now Lortab 7.5 mg x6 per day. He has tolerated everything well up to last month. The specialist turns his pump up a little more than normal because he never experiences nausea or vomitting. He trying to get it up a little faster due to his condition worsening all the time. THe problem is that last month he turned it up and at the same time took him off flexeril muscle relaxer and gave him Baclofen by mouth to try. Then in December he will add it to the pump. In October we went for a turn up and after 48 hours he had sever nausea and vomitting, chills, sweats and felt like he had the flu. It cleared up after 2 days and everything was fine. I notified the doctor and they thought it might have been a virus. We just went again in November on the 13th and exactly 48 hours after the turn up, he experienced the same exact symptoms. Has anyone been through this and what might it be caused from. I would love to have Bob Engelbardt's imput on this also please. I am brand new to this and was delighted to find a site about inter-pain pump patients and their questions.
