I just found out my cholesterol is high and I should watch what I eat. I'm so confused!! I don't eat fried foods. I use olive oil. I take the skin off of chicken. I eat a red meat maybe once a week. I eat alot of fish/salmon. I try to walk alot. I'm not a couch potato. I'm not overweight. (I do have a little extra around my stomach) My cholesterol was high one year ago too. I've made an appt with my doctor, but she is probably going to tell me to watch what I eat again!!!! Suggestions??

Hey there Jackie. I've been told that there are some people who have high cholesterol because it's hereditary, not because of what they eat. Does it run in your family? There is a test you can get done to remove blood from your body, and have it chemically cleansed of LDL cholesterol. Check this link out http://www.healthsquare.com/highcholesterol2.htm hope it helps

Jackie,
If your cholesterol is in the 200 to 240 range you may not need to be concerned about it being too high. After all, the death rate from all causes increases as cholesterol values deviate in either direction outside this range.
