What Cholesterol drug reduces Triglycerides?

My blood test results (age 60, 185 lbs)
Total Cholesterol at 210mg/dL
Triglycerides at 290mg/dL (normal range is < 199)
HDL cholesterol at 63mg/dL
LDL Cholesterol at 89mg/dL

I am taking 25mg of Zocor daily.
Is there any Cholesterol drug specifically reduces my Triglycerides problems?
Is the Zocor the wrong kind of Cholestrol drug? Thank you.

I found it.
Its fenofibrate.
Does any of you have experiences with this drug?
Do you have any recommendations?
Thank you.

Hi. Happy to find this site. My sister had similar concerns but didn't want to take sny statins. She knows about side effects and wanted no part of them. Understandably, she wanted to investigate an alternative before she started the drug treadmill. Her doctor scared her by telling her if she didn't start a statin right away she would have a stroke. Her cholesterol was in the extremely high range and her triglycerides were over 400. Still, she decided to seek out something else. A Physician's Asst. recommended a product listed in the PDR (same place where the statins are) and in a little over a month, not only brought her cholesterol well into the healthy range (raised her HDLs) but lowered her triglycerides to 115. We are still amazed. Doctors need to offer patients something other than stains especially for the first line of defense. By the way, the doctor who scared her had her receptionist call to find out what my sis was taking.

Cici, May I ask what non-stain med or meds your sister uses? My sister has had good results with taking both tricor [generic fenafibrate] & zetia. Thanks, Joyce

Medications, used to improve blood cholesterol levels include: Statins (most widely used and most powerful drugs), Bile acid sequestrants (eg. Cholestyramine), Nicotinic acid, Cholesterol absorption inhibitors (new class of cholesterol lowering agents approved in 2002) and Fibrates (primarily effective in lowering triglycerides).

Hi Joyce,
Sorry it took so long to reply to you. I'm back online now. This is an all natural product that not only significantly lowers LDLs but raises the HDLs. There is no other product on the market that can make that claim and there are no side effects. Yes, some people do need a statin but wouldn't you agree that physicians should offer a safer alternative as a 1st line of defense. I would like to respect this board by not posting the product but if allowed, you can email me at nunotes@yahoo.com
