my wife was diagnosed with cancer last week. Doctor wants to do lumpectomy. My wife had her mind made up due to large family hx to have masectomy - Should she seek another doc ?
It has been my experiance in the past (working in a hospital) that the decision is up to the patient. I would tend to agree with your wife, if it was me, that is what I would do. There is a movie on the life time channel that deals with this situation called " Why I Wore Lipstick To My Mastectomy". Check your local listings or the lifetime network website for more information. If your wife's physician is not willing to perform her mastectomy, then I would get a second opinion.
