Ive decided i can no longer try to hold a job.Does anyone know how best to fill out the disability forms? there are so many problems I cant list them all, and dont even know how to adequately describe the "why's and wherefor's" of not being able to hold a job. Is it even possible for me to qualify? or just a waste of time. Id really appreciate any advice on this, from anyone out there who may know. thaks, Briar
I tried this route myself last summer. it was a nightmare. if you do it online the application takes forever and it doesn't make any sense. best bet would be for you to go to your local social security disability (i'm assuming that is what you are meaning) and talk with one of them. if you are currently in treatment, you might want to talk with your therapist or pdoc cause you'll need their support and if not, try a local community mental health clinic. they may have some social workers there, if you qualify, that can help you get started. it isn't easy, 8 of 10 generally get denied the first go round, it takes upwards of 3-4 months to get the first judgement which is typically a rejection. you'll then need to find a lawyer for any appeals cause they really are the best way after the 1st rejection letter. i do wish you good luck though.
i forgot to mention. i ended up forcing myself to get a job cause while i waited the first 3 months, i had to eat and keep a roof over my head and my state's social services won't give you food stamps and whatnot just cause you say you are disabled. once you get approved for disability though and have that piece of paper, all the social programs will fall into place.
