I am 30 years old and was first diagnosed with Bipolar 1 after my PTSD post 9/11 (at about age 24/25ish) which I visualized with my own 2 eyes. After visiting with a therapist after the event long enough she saw that it triggered not only Post Traumatic Stress Disorder but Bipolar symptoms. This bothered me a bit, and because I wanted to make sure I went to another doctor who agreed with my having bipolar and also detected anxiety. This didn't set well with me as they wanted to give me meds (lithium, paxil, lexapro) which I took for nearly a year. Well those meds made things worse and I nearly killed myself. I visited one more doctor to see if anything would be different and he diagnosed me with cyclothymia! What bothered me is the different diagnosis for whatever it is that I have! I don't agree with taking pills for what is not accurate for my condition, especially when the combination of the ones that I was taking was making me feel zombie like and suicidal.
So I quit those drugs, and was alright for a while, got into spirituality, and met a wonderful spiritual man who is now my husband who has pretty much been like a mood enhancer and person to calm me down during manic or depressive episodes or anxiety attacks.
The only problem is that my episodes and anxiety attacks are getting worse, even with his help. The anxiety is to the point where if people that I don't know well talk to me I begin to sweat. I don't want to go to a doctor, because one told me that they can't help me unless they give me meds. That one wanted to give me depacote or something and it can cause diabetes and well that runs in my family, and I may be at risk if I take that drug, so I told them no and didn't go back. I just want an alternative natural remedy and I can't find any doctor to go to that can advise me properly. Do you think a nutritionist can help? There are no alternative docs here in Oklahoma. The one that I did find was a fake phony fraud and gave me accupuncture which I think hit a bad point or something!
