Hi all i am new here so pls bear with me as I am not sure how all this works. Ok here is my story and question. I have an 11 almost 12 yr old son who was dx with BP at 5yrs old as well as adhd and cd odd.We ahve tried him on alot of different meds the ones I can remember are seriquil,adderol,valrpoic acid,riperidal,halodal and just recently despiramine. Some we took off due to weight gain others jsut didn't work well enough.My problem now is first off he is a big boy 150 lbs and not stable on meds. We had to have him admitted for the first time last month and he stayed for 2 weeks to try to get meds under control. At time of admitting he was on 5 mgs of halodal 750 mg of epival and it was not enough. doc in hospital put him on 5 mgs of desipramine and it seemed to be working HOWEVER the side effects of that meds were crazy! Chest pains high blood pressure and pulse rate sevre headaches so needless to say we had to pull him off. My problem now is his behaviour is getting out of control again. He is violent swearing not listening thinks he is god and can rule the world. I am going to see my doc today and wanted to go armed with some med choices but have no idea what to ask for. He is talking about something to help adhd but I think we need something else. His is on a anticonvulsant and an antipsychotic should he be on and antideressant or something else? thanks for any help you can offer
I take: Lamictal seizure Risperdol mood stabilizer Lexapro antidepressant Provigil Helps keep me a wake but also used a ADD Klonopin as needed when needed for anxiety It has taken four years to get this winning combination. It won't work for everyone but I would recommend any of these meds since they've been helpful for me.
