Has anyone heard of DBT? Or used it? How do I know if it's right for me? Did it work for you? Please give me some info.

Thanks!

DBT=Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Marsha Linehan is the shrink who pioneered it and is the current expert in the field. She has written books and workbooks. I bought the workbook at Barnes & Noble, but you may have to call around. For $35, buy the book and try some of the exercises, it may work for you. It's based on Eastern philosophies such as meditation and awareness.

I don't have BP, but tried it for my PTSD. I was catatonic and agoraphobic. Her ideas and concepts, such as meditating on an orange or self-soothing by taking a bubble bath did not work for me, but may work for others.

If you decide to to the psychologist monitored route, be aware that it's VERY expensive. In my area, it costs between $1200-1500/month.

Good luck!
