drinking and bipolar meds are not a good combination if he is on bipolar meds (or meds in general). drinking and bipolar illness does not go too well together either. that being said, it is up to the individual to decide whether he/she wants to take whatever risks there maybe with their meds and/or their illness. alcohol does act as a depressant though. and self-medication by bipolars are also unfortunately too common.
