Michael N. Zarzar is a fantastic psychiatrist; very personalble, real, and a talented psychotherapist.

His brothers, Nicholas and David, are equally skilled and in the same practice as Michael.

Glenwood Psychiatrics at 919.845.1555 in Raleigh, NC.

Dr. Zazar is also on the list of “Best Doctors” in the Raleigh/Durham area as determined by Best Doctors. (They compile their doctor recommendations by surveying regional and specialty “leaders”).

Read about Dr. Zazar at http://www.rexhealth.com/masthead/news/releases/bestdocs.htm.

Here are two resources for searching in any state:

1. The database at Harvard for psychiatrists with special bipolar training; and

2. A book chapter on how to find and choose a psychiatrist or therapist.

Those links:

I have been fortunate in finding good psychiatric help in the Tampa area. Bala Rao, MD diagnosed my bipolar in 1996. My insurance did not cover his services when I needed ongoing help so I began a very good relationahip with Drs. Edson, Singh, Sheehan, DeGanuza, a group in the Northdale area of Carrollwood. Dr. Sheehan is the liason with our local DBSA group.

I was a patient of Dr. Zarzar's many years ago during an extensive hospital stay and I was very appreciative of his help and concern for my well being. I would recommend him.
