I have been having some serious issues. I just had a severe manic episode that required 7 days in the hospital. The first couple of weeks after I got home, things were going great, but now it's like all me and my husband does is fight. Last night was really bad, I ended up having 2 panic attacks. I don't know what to do. He told me that I needed to get help, but I've tried. I'm afraid that it is only going to get worse. Can someone give me some sort of advice????
You didn't say whether you had a therapist and/or psychiatrist outside of the hospital. If you do, it would be helpful if you told them what is going on.
If you don't, you'll need to find one even if it is at your local community mental health center. I have truly come to realize that I can't manage this mess totally on my own. I really don't think anyone can when dealing with BP.
Hopefully you are on meds and if so give them a chance. If they don't seem to be working then mention it to your doc and see if there is something else they can give. I have also realized that it takes the right combination of meds and for most, it takes awhile to figure that out.
Just remember you are not totally alone in all this. There are people here that are struggling, living, and coping (or trying to) with the same illness and it is a illness.
Just the fact you mentioned the 2 panic attacks, and I had one myself last week, means your body/mind is trying to tell you something. It's like a warning light on your vehicle's dashboard. There may be nothing wrong but something is tripping it and it needs to be looked at by a professional. Not to call you a vehicle but that is the closest example I could think of at this moment.
