Hubby goes through cycles of feeling great for a long period of time (usually several months) & then crashes & burns after awhile. I'm reading a book that describes how to predict when it will happen so that I can help him contain it. Overall, making sure he's taken all of his meds every day is pretty easy though. He's good about self-medicating. We're just working on stabilizing him as much as possible, & that's not always easy.
Last night, his father & stepmother were supposed to pick up his brother in a nearby city & come to eat w/ us by 7. However, by 6:30, we got a message from his brother that his father had just left another city 45 minutes away (!) & wouldn't be here until after 8. Hubby told me to tell him (brother) that we'll just reschedule. It upset him a great deal b/c his dad always puts his kids last after his golf games & his other priorities. It's sad, because he's been EXTREMELY late to other meals that we've had. Typical doctor! All entitlement, no apologies! It makes me upset too b/c I know it just devastates him.
However, when I realized we weren't going out to dinner w/ Dad-in-Law, we hit the grocery store & I whipped up a batch up biscuits & gravy instead! It was good. In fact, I just had some of the leftovers today. Mmmm!!!
Hubby will be fine, but I've asked that he not talk to his father for awhile. We may send him a father's day card, but no big "she-bang" for Father's day this year. Every time he talks to him, he gets upset all over again.
Last year, my dad, bro, sis-in-law & I waited at a restaurant for 45 min while we waited for Dad-in-Law & Stepmom-in-Law to meet hubby at our apt & then come to the restaurant w/ him. That was just pathetic. PLUS, I was working an early shift (weekend shifts back then) & had to leave almost as soon as they got there. I mean, HOW RUDE.
Anywho, just babbling now, but that's what we had to deal with last night. GRRRRRRR!! People who are habitually late make me mad. I always try to be early, so I don't see why other ppl can't make the effort. Bleh.
Sorry for the ramble...just needed to get that out. Thx for listening,
