Just curious if people here think it is hereditary or the result of the environment? If its hereditary whats the liklihood that a child would end up with it if one of the parents have it?

Hi G,

You can find the answer to this on the web. It is suspected that there is an inherited component to it, which can be exacerbated by environment. I've read the statistics but it was a while ago - I think there's a 20% chance for a child of one BP to have BP tendencies.

Are you doing better today? Hope you are keeping your spirits up and I also hope that someone on this board has helped ease your pain

Hi G,

Thanks for your concern. Everyone on here has been so nice. I am finding everyone else's stories helpful and the board is giving me a place to vent all of my craziness.

I was hysterical on Friday and Saturday. Cried all day and night. I am feeling better today - but I know that I will "hit the wall" over and over again for the next few years before this is out of my system. I never got over that last time this happened to me and it was 14 years ago. I have to continually remind myself that the sweet & loving guy that I thought he was isn't real and it is very hard because I have all those memories still stuck in my head (albeit jumbled together with what I know now).

I'm just sticking to my house for a while because things in the outside world "trigger" me regarding him and I find myself bursting out into tears and it's embarrassing to be that way in public.
