I need someone's input.

Question:
I started a relationship with a wonderful man who is so kind, generous, thoughtful, loyal..etc.. He told me he was diagnosed as bipolar back some years ago. I never experienced him on an episode til about 2 months ago of the which we caught on time and under medication recovered atleast 90%, now after 1 month he relapsed and is slippin back in, he is not being consistant with his meds and he is also smoking weed. He has been very distant and we are in a long distance relationship right now, and doesn't even phone me, its been about 4 days.This is not like him at ALL! he is so attentive to me in everyway when he is good. I also wanted to ask anyone who can help me, do they still undergo an episode even if they are consistant on the meds and if so how often?! do I let him be or do I try to call him to show him I care? will he even know my efforts or are they irrelevant?
Pls help I want to learn so much more

maybe they cab still have an episode even on meds
I should let him be, he doesn't know the concept of time.
