I've done much surfing over the last year, and read many of the posts here tonight, and all I have are more questions.

My SO was diagnosed with BP a year ago, while in a treatment facility for sex & alcohol addiction. Prior to that he'd been diagnosed and was medicated for ADHD, and depression. The facility added meds for BP, and as far as I can tell he's taking them regularly. He sees his psychiatrist regularly, so, the meds. are monitored--hopefully.

I just don't know if he is BP?? We've been together for 5 years, and I don't know if I've seen the manic behaviors often described here. You're wondering how that can be, when he was treated for sex and alcohol addiction? Alcohol addiction without a doubt. Sex addiction was compulsive masturbation to porn - no person to person promiscuity. I'm not kidding myself - I could just not know about it, but for sake of this post - nothing worse than online porn. I've not seen excessive spending. No long term euphoric episodes - no gambling, traveling, etc.

What I have seen... rage, agitation, irritation, inability to remain employed, insomnia, mood swings that turn on a dime, more than once a day.

Is he bipolar? Or just mean? Or something else?

We have a 3 year old, and breaking apart our family is a very serious decision. However, I left him last year before he went into treatment. He made such large strides, I felt I had to see what happened. Well this is what happened... He's not drunk and rageful any more, but, he's still irritated, and moody.

Oh, and new symptoms have manifested since the BP diagnoses: constant fatigue, body aches, and even numbness on left side of body.

Anybody have any ideas about what I'm dealing with? Any similar experience? Suggestions?
