The kids and I had to leave our home on Christmas Eve. My husband was in a rage, and was screaming, threatening all sorts of harm to us and our belongings, screaming insults at us, and throwing things (hard) at my son. We left, drove 5 hours north to my family, and havent been home since. My husband has since promised to get help (he has promised this before and then refused to follow through), and begged us to come home. My kids are giving up ALOT by being so far away, and my business is already suffering. My kids miss their dad. We want to go home so badly, but not into the same situation we ran from. How do we know when its clear? How much can we give up? How can I know its not all a ploy to get us home, then he gets 3 times worse? I love my husband, but he desperately needs to make changes. He needsto face his disorder and treat it, but can he do that if after all this time he just denies it all? Am I just living a fantasy that everything could possibly turn out OK?
when should you go home.....when you feel its safe.bottom line. it took my wife 18 years,2 suicide attempts,2 mental health admits,i trip to jail and home in forclosure to finally seek help.is you leaving drastic enough? time will tell.but it takes drastic measures for drastic results!the only person that can help your husband is himself.what you can do is give him a reason to.or show him the consequences of not.its called tough love,but can work!
