The doctor increased my lithium and I actually feel happy or really a higher feeling. Since I have not been happy in ten years, this feeling is very wierd to me. I keep thinking something is wrong, I feel like I am in love basically. I hope it does not stop for it feels great.

It's truly a miracle drug, isn't it?

I take lithium. I think it helps. But I have gained weight and have had some sexual side effects that I do not like. I am also tired. So while I'm thankful that it keeps me "even," I do not like the tradeoffs. I've heard of other drugs, but those, too, have side effects. One gives you a rash. I also don't like not being as mentally sharp. Lithium is not perfect.

I agree with Stone that lithium is not all the great. My husband had tremors so bad he could not even sign his name. He was so embarressed, everywhere. we could not eat out since he had troble keeping food on his fork and people would aways ask if he was ok. He is very artistic and crafty, and could not do any of that. Lithium is also very hard on the organs- especially your liver.

My doctor wants to try other drugs besides lithium and I think I'll give it a shot. I used to be on Zyprexa and Wellubrutrin. Gained weight on Wellbutrin. From what I'm learned through my bp support group, it takes a while to get the right med mix. Thankful for our loved ones for hanging in there with us.

Inderol/generic - Propanalol has been an absolute lifesaver for me for 10 years in controlling the tremors. And avoid caffiene because that makes it worse. Happily, it is relatively safe compared to the rest of the garbage these people pass out like candy.
