I would classify my Husband as a Bipolar II with mania's being Hypomanic.
The Lithium Carbonate that was prescribed for him not only stopped him from being able to take his NSAID meds and Herbal Migraine pills, but it made him Lifeless and like a Zombie. he felt dead inside and empty. In fact taking the Lithium carbonate was worse than any depression I had ever seen him experience.
I did online research and found many facts out about the treatments for Bipolar sufferers and was amazed that so many have suffered through so many years with multiple meds and losing whatever quality of life they had left to live through these bipolar medications.
I found research and some messageboards of a group of people that have tried a new treatment plan with Lithium Orotate as the base medication. Lithium Orotate is very different than Lithium Carbonate, it is chemically differnt in that it breaks the blood brain barrier and allows for a person to ingest much less of the actual Lithium element.
This means that you no longer have any of the bad side effect that comes with the Lithium Carbonate compound, and all of the medicinal benefits of the Lithium element.
By reading through other people experience with this new treatment and finding how well over 90% of them did with the protocol, my husband and I were ready to give it a try.
He weaned himself off the Lithium Carbonate slowly over several weeks, and began the Lithium Orotate at the described lowest starting dose which was 1 pill 3 times a day.
He was also to take 1-2 Omega 3 fish Oil (He takes Krill Oil) 1 vitamin B6, and 1 triptophan at bedtime.
This dose seems to be doing very well. Some people do have to increase their amount of Lithium orotate or Triptophan, but you work slowly and see what works for you.
Since my husband was a very depressent Bipolar, he uses the smallest dose of the Lithium Orotate, and is greatly helped with the triptophan. Some people cannot handle the triptophan or it puts them into a Mania.
Last Monday at our weekly therapy session the doctor asked my husband to rate his depression (as my husband has suffered from chronic pain for over 25 years and is in some rate of depression due to that pain daily)and my husbands answer was ZERO. I could not even believe this.
This has been more than we could have ever asked for. He is more alive and wanting life than ever before.
This is working for men and women and children all over the country.
it is new and just begining to get results and data to form a profile, but it looks very promising.
They have found that Lithium Orotate is helping with memory in Alzhiemers and it curbs craving alcohol in Alcoholics.
I am not an advocate or anyone trying to do anything but get people to research and look into something that may be a much improved method of treatment.
I read of so many suffering through this disease and my heart goes out to you.
Do an online search about this, there are websites and messageboards, or contact me and I will send links to the websites where I have gotten my information.
The Lithium Orotate is sold as a supplement and is dirt cheap. The triptophan is the most expensive at about $20 a bottle but that could last 4 months.
Please do not take this as a sales pitch...that is farthest from the truth.
it has been a miracle that has changed our lives.
I am only saying to do your own research, nothing more.
This is a personal choice and I am not responsible for any choice you may make. But we all must take responsibility in our own lives for the choices we make concerning our own health.
Please email at this email if you would like the links I found helpful or as I said do your own search.
