Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me? I feel my child has bipolar. Although he doesn't have alot of the symptoms because of how young he is (7). He is experiencing the ups and downs in his moods. He is not ADD or ADHD. He is a normal 7 year old child who has alot of anger and depression. He can be so happy one minute and for no reason his mood changes. Like I flipped a switch. Can anyone help me try to understand how to understand what he is going through or what he is feeling?

I wouldn't begin to try and diagnose a child. I know for a fact a child can have bipolar disorder, but I question the accuracy of some child diagnoses. I would actively seek recommendations of people in your area who have worked extensively with bipolar children.

I wish you strength in raising your child. My wife and I raised a bipolar child, and while it was at times exceedingly difficult, he is an exceptional person in many ways. I wouldn't trade him for all the "normal" kids in the world.
