My 16 year old daughter is currently hospitalized and will return home next tuesday. I'm worried but I'm learning all I can. I wasn't getting good information from doctors, therapists or case workers until today. I was told to read "The BiPolar Child" and I'm picking it up today. In the mean time I visited the website and it was such a relief.
I'm worried because she is still very hostile and angry. She threatened me in the past that she would stab me in my sleep. When I took her to the hospital last sunday she told me she felt like she could hurt herself or one of us (dad, little brother). I told the case worker and the psychiatrist but I don't feel that they are taking me seriously. We still need to have a family meeting.
Besides bipolar she also has histrionic personality d.o. This makes it difficult to know when she is sincere. She's very charming and polite and gives the illusion of being very mature for her age. Today the doc told me she's actually more like a 12 y.o. maturity wise. That made so much sense!
I started therapy for myself about a month ago to help me cope and learn to control my own feelings when she tries to break me down. It's helping but it's also increasing her frustration. This is just so huge!
