My nearly 16yo granddaughter was dx'd bipolar, adhd, and ODD recently and her meds were also increased about a month ago (2nd refill). Anyway, she is now washing her hands frequently to the point she is making her hands raw. We mentioned previously to the psychiatrist about her being a bit OCD but she does seem to move from one thing to another, obsesses about it and then moves on to something different. However, the washing of her hands has gotten worse. She says she is afraid of dieing ...germs... anyway, could her meds create this behavior?

My daughter is 7 and was diagnosed with BP/ADHD/ODD last year. During the testing prior to diagnosis, the results indicated she had markers for several different disorders -- including OCD, Depression, Autism, etc. It was explained to me that it's very normal for the indicators to be there, but it just depends on which markers are more prevalent to treat. He mentioned that the OCD was probably always there, but just not as noticeable. Looking back, we did remember some things that now click with us. I hope this helps!
