Hi Colleen,

I'm sorry to hear about your father's condition and I'm glad you're seeking the best doctors you can find in the Myrtle Beach area. Take a look at our Doctors/Hospitals page, Find a Doctor/Hospital, to see some of the best doctor finder sites on the Web. I would also recommend getting in touch with any friends you know in the area, as they would be able to point you in the direction of quality healthcare facilities (hospitals, nursing facilities, etc) that might recommend quality MDs.

Best of luck in caring for your father,

Emily at Alzheimers-Issues.com

You also may want to find the Alzheimer's Support group in your area and get the participants to make recommendations. Before Mom was diagnosed, we went through several neurologists (some recommended by other doctors), and some of them didn't have much of a bed-side manner. Mom, who can be rather stubborn, dug her heels in and refused to go forward with additional tests based on her paranoia and lack of trust in the doctor. If we had found a doctor who took the time to build a rapport with Mom, we would have avoided some of the issues we faced and - I believe - had an earlier diagnosis of the situation. The people who probably will give the best advice on doctors with these key traits will be Alzheimers' caregivers in your area.

Good luck!

Dorian
