This morning my mother n law woke up got dressed by herself an acted like Rip Van Winkle. She realized that my husband and I had moved in with her and all of the positive changes that we made for her. She was so happy and had such a wonderful day. But then she laid down to take a nap. When we woke her up for dinner she was back in the fog and couldn't even walk to the dinner table we had to use the seat on her walker. Is this a normal alzheimer's behavior?
Yes, it is normal for Alzheimers patients to have good and bad days. My mother-in-law was the same way. Sometimes she would be more alert and "with it" and acknowledge what we were doing for her and thank us. But most of the time she was in that fog. It is very sad, but we can be thankful for those precious moments of clarity. Also, it helps us to know that at some deep level, they do appreciate what we are doing for them.
