I've been on Nexium around 5 years. I read that tomatoes and onions are big heartburn tiggers. I love and eat a lot of both of them. I don't have heartburn unless I don't take Nexium. Being that I don't have heartburn but still eat these foods am I putting myself at risk for problems. Should I eat these because I feel ok doing so or should I just steer clean of them.

Hi, I've been on Nexium for almost 5 years and that can't be good for you. I mean, being on the same drug for five years is a long time. I've decided to go off for awhile and have noticed instant heartburn. I keep taking tums to control it but that can't be good either. I love tomatoes and cannot eat them anymore even when I was on the Nexium. Maybe somebody out there can tell us how long one should be on the same drug. I believe your Nexium is blocking any negative symptoms of the tomatoes and onions.
